Corn earworm in sweet corn trapping map for August 27, 2012

Corn earworm adult numbers have increased over the past week in southeast and west Michigan.

Hopefully this will be the last of peak corn earworm activity for the season, but the recent increase in numbers warrants protection of silking sweet corn in most areas of the state.

See the map below for corn earworm activity in pheromone traps for August 27, 2012.

Corn earworm map
Numbers on map represent the number of corn earworms
counted on August 27, 2012. Each number is the total number
of moths caught during a week in a single pheromone trap
placed near a silking sweet corn field.
