Do you have what it takes to be a millionaire?

In the 4-H Build A Million curriculum, there are six units that cover a variety of financial literacy activities, through learning objectives, lessons, ice breakers and discussion questions for follow-up.

The 4-H Build a Million curriculum is designed to work with youth to help them develop and understand personal finance and basic investing. This is the first part in a series of six Michigan State University Extension articles to share what is in the curriculum, what basic information is covered in the curriculum and give adult volunteers, parents or financial professionals materials to help teach the information for financial literacy.

Have you ever been asked, “Do you have what it takes to be a millionaire?” If so, what was the answer? Was there a correct answer? Where is the information found to learn about this? Additional resources are also included to help teach this unit. There are timeframes listed as to how long it should take to introduce this lesson, and an activity or two is shared for youth along with discussion questions that can be talked about afterwards.
  2. Making Choices. Youth learn decision-making skills and understand wants and needs. There is an ice breaker and activity for youth to participate in along with the materials needed. There are also the timeframe and discussion questions listed.
  3. Do You Want to Be a Millionaire. Youth will understand characteristics of American millionaires and making wise financial decisions. Buying into the lottery and working on handouts is included in this lesson.
