Update on aster leafhopper infectivity in west Michigan
Aster yellows infectivity of aster leafhoppers continues to be high.
According to two aster leafhopper sweep-net samples taken on June 4, aster yellows infectivity was 14.8 percent around Fremont, Mich., and 14.3 percent near Byron Center, Mich. Therefore, the threshold for treatment is still two leafhoppers per 100 sweeps in celery, and three to four leafhoppers in carrots.
