Vendors can link with farmers markets through online Market Maker: Part 1

Agricultural producers can enhance their visibility by making business connections with the markets they serve using the online Market Maker.

marketmnaker logoMarket Maker is a web-based resource that provides links between producers, processors, wholesalers, retailers, farmers markets, food service providers and end-consumers within the food supply chain. Michigan State University Extension recommends the site, which is free and available to all.

Using the business connection feature, farmers can link with specific farmers markets, grocery stores, restaurants, schools and other organizations that have also developed Market Maker profiles. The link serves the mutual benefit of identifying users of local food sources and driving business to the farm.

From the website, www.mimarketmaker.msu.edu, sellers can easily create profiles with location, website, contact information and produce available. Users can describe other enterprises such as retail markets and agri-tourism activities through additional profiles. The site’s mapping and directional tools enable customers to easily find the farm.
